1959 Edsel Villager
Here are pictures of my "grocery getter".  This 1959 Ford Edsel Villager station wagon had enough room in it to get grocerys for the whole neighborhood.  The car had 43,000 miles on it when I got it, but was in need of some TLC.  The previous owner had the car pulled apart to have it painted, and whoever did the paint looked liked they used an airless sprayer and used the "texture" attachments.  It almost looked like sand was mixed in with the paint.  The one rocker panel was shot too, but thanks to my friend Jack Ogurek (Summit Hill Body and Fender), who just happened to have a NOS rocker panel for a 59 Ford four door something laying around...we were able to piece the rocker together, as good as new.  After the rocker was done, I used up a DA sander smoothing the pebbles off the old paint and got it ready to seal and spray properly.  The biggest pain in the butt with these old cars is attaching all of the chrome...we counted 226 holes around the car for trim work.  really didn't do much else to the car other then drive it and enjoy it for a summer, then, like so many others...it went to a new owner, but it was nice seeing the car at our car club's show this past August.
