1939 Plymouth
This is the car I loved to refer to as "Old and Ugly"  It was a great car to drive (as long as you didn't want any creature comforts like heat or A/C or even any music other then the engine).  If you wanted to get from point A to B in a hury it was a blast.  This car was built in a total of about 25 working days (over a three month period).  This was my mental health project when I was going thru my divorce.  With the help of a couple of friends we cut the body off of the origional frame.  Cut the floor boards out, and rolled a stock S-10 chassis underneath it.  When we let the body down, I kept looking at it and saying "lower", until I was happy, then we started making mounts to keep it there, and then we had to make the floor to fit around everything.  It ended up that the body was channeled about 6-1/2 inches over the frame.   When it came to a motor, to make it work properly we had to move the motor back 15 inches and down about 7 from where it would have originally mounted in the S-10 frame...talk about moving the center of gravity down and back.....this thing handled like a go cart (ok, ok...pretty darn close though).  With the body channeled but still keeping the stock S-10 suspension travel, it rode nice too.  We used the stock S-10 wiring harness, and I sunk a couple of 89 Cadillac tail lights into the rear fenders, and left what was there of the original 39 laquer, and went cruising....A fun car that I'm sorry I had to sell, but I hope the new owner in Albany, NY is enjoying it.
UPDATE!!!
Below are two pictures the new owner sent to me to show what he did with the car.   Says him and his wife are enjoying it every day they can.
Glad your enjoying it Rodger...if you ever want to sell it, let me know.
